Zhanghui, vice-chief of the Education
Department in Tibet Autonomous Region, said that by 2005,
the Region will popularize the six-year compulsory
education, and by 2010 nine-year compulsory education will
be basically realized.
“After fifty years
of development, the education in Tibet has obtained great
achievements. At present, a comparatively integrated
education system, including preschool education, adult
education, vocational and technical education and special
education from primary school to university, has come into
being”, he said.
Tibet has also
successfully fetched in a batch of educational projects from
overseas. During the “Ninth Five-Year Plan”,
more than 5 million dollar educational fund have been
fetched in to improve the education
quality.
“We will catch the opportunities
in West Development to attain a new height in recent
years” said Zhanghui. “The education in Tibet
should continue to uphold the policy of reform and opening
up and enhance international exchange and cooperation if it
wants to catch up with the national level”, he
added.
